class of 2008
This third group of children is sponsored by the Turing Foundation, all the way through their Junior High School years, from 2008 till 2011. They were selected from 3 regions.
Mohammed Yussif
Hi, my name is Mohammed Yussif. I live at a village called Nante in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. I am fourteen years old. I attend school at John William Montessori School in Kumasi. This is possible because of the scholarship I’m benefitting from the Smartkids Foundation. My parents are peasant farmers and they obtain very little amount of money from farming. I felt very nervous when I first joined the other kids at my new school but now I don’t.
Victoria Ankrah
My name is Victoria Ankrah. I come from Wa in Upper West Region of Ghana but I live at Nadowli. I attend John Williams MOntessori School. My education is sponsored by the Smartkids Foundation. I was very nervous when I got to my new school but I got some friends who were also Smartkids and were always there for me. The foundation provides me with anything I need which makes me very happy to be part of such a family.
Taduri Ranius
My name is Taduri Ranius. I come from Nator Kaaboge in the Upper West Region. I am a boy of fourteen years old. I attend school at John William Montessori School in Kumasi. My education is sponsored by the Smartkids Foundation. They provide me with everything I need and even, pocket money. It is a really good foundation and I am so happy to be part of it. They have given me a better life, a life that my parents would have found it very difficult to give me.
Peter Akwasi Sarpong
Peter Akwasi Sarpong is my name. I am fourteen years and I come from a New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region. I attend school at John William Montessori. The Smartkids Foundation is taking care of all my Educational needs at my new School. My parents could not afford my education at the Junior High school level. The Smartkids Foundation offered to sponsor me after I had passed an examination conducted to select brilliant but needy children.
Osman Zumeseg
Osman Zumeseg is my name. I am fifteen years of age. I come from Nandom in the Upper West Region. I attend school at Joy Standard Internation School. I am what I am today because of the scholarship I am enjoying from the Smartkids Foundation. I have become a better person now, I get quality education and I’ve been introduced to an environment free from fighting, disobedience, etc. Above all, I am well catered for by the foundation. I like reading story books and learning new things.
Jakalia Nuhu
Jakalia Nuhu is my name. I am twelve years old and I come from Fian in the Upper West Region. I attend Joy Standard Internation School. In fact, I deem it fantastic being elevated from a village school to a high class one where studies are very serious. All thanks be to the Smartkids Foundation for the sponsorship given me. I am very proud of the foundation because I have been enjoying too much especially good food and electricity.
Emmanuel K. Atangah
My name is Emmanuel K. Atangah. I come from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region. I am fourteen years old. I attend school at Joy Standard School in kumasi. This is due to the help I am receiving from the Smartkids Foundation. The foundation pays all my school fees and gives me everything I need for my education. I really thank the Smartkids Foundation. I like reading and also I like to play with my friends.
Konamah Mary
My name is Konamah Mary. I come from Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region and I am fifteen years old. I like reading and researching. I attend school at Joy Standard school in Kumasi. I am happy to be part of the Smartkids Foundation. My parents couldn’t afford my education but now I enjoy the best of education due to the help from Smartkids. May God bless all Smartkids sponsors fo r their help.
Lawrencia Zinpena
Lawrencia Zinpena is my name. I come from Kyang in the Upper West Region. I have other four siblings and I am the fourth. My father is dead now. My brothers dropped out of schol because there was no one to cater for them, my mother couldn’t afford it. When I got the Smartkids scholarship, I and my family were very happy and we are greatful. The name of the school that the Smartkids Foundation put me in is Joy Standard School.
John Maa-ire
I am John Maa-ire, a boy of thirteen years of age. I come from Wa in the Upper West Region. My parents are farmers and they have five children. My parents have difficulties in catering for us all so my elder brother dropped out of school. I am in a school called Joy Standard School because the Smartkids Foundation offered to sponsor my education. The game I like is Footballand the food I like best is Rice and beans stew.
Addison Gyabaah
My name is Addison Gyabaah. I come from Badukrom in the Brong Ahafo Region. I attend school at Joy Standard School in Kumasi due to the help of the Smartkids Foundation. My parents are farmers and they do not have enough money to educate me at the Junior High level so the Smartkids Foundation decided to sponsor my education. They put me in my new School. The foundation supplied me with books, “chop box”, school uniforms, etc. They also always come to the school to ask the things I need so that they would provide for me.
Gyameah Charllote
My name is Gyameah Charllote. I come from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. I am thirteen years old. I like learning, reading my story books, going to church and singing Gospel songs. I disslike gossiping, cheating, insulting, disobedience, fighting and selfishness. My parents are farmers and they have three children, I am the eldest. I take every work in school very seriously. I am a smartkid and the Smartkids Foundation takes very good care of us and provide me with all my needs. When we are sad, they make us happy because they will let you play games. We enjoy more games, food, drinks and read our story books.
Daniel Issah
My name is Daniel Issah. I am a boy of thirteen years of age. I am a smartkid, I got this Smartkids Foundation because of my hard learning. The foundation provide us everything. I got this foundation when I was in class six coming to JHS 1. I was in my hometown attending school but sometimes my parents couldn’t afford my needs. When I got this foundation I was happy and they brought me to Kumasi in Ashanti Region. They brought us mattress, sponges, towels, buckets, “chop box”, etc. The foundation bought us many things so we need your help, we want you to support our foundation.
Obour Emmanuel
My name is Obour Emmanuel. I am fourteen years of age. Icome from Tetrefu near Lake Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region. Lake Bosomtwe is one of the largest lakes in Ghana which attracts tourists. During holidays, people come and entertain themselves at the lakeside. I attend school at Joy Standard School in Kumasi. I’m very happy to be in the Smartkids Foundation because it helps me in many ways. It helps me in terms of of learning and also access to electricity. I am also proud to be a smartkid because it encourages me to learn hard to become responsible in the future.
Frederick Appiah
I am called Frederick Appiah. I am thirteen years old. I come from Susuanso in the Brong Ahafo Region. I am fair in complexion and I live with my parents and my siblings. My parents are farmers and I am their third child. I attend school at Joy Standard School. I am a boy who don’t like fighting and behaving badly. Everybody likes me because I am respectful. My hobbies are reading story books and listening to the news. I also like playing Ghanaian drums and dancing. My leisure times, I take my books and read. The game I like best is playing football.
