Navanethem Pillay
In 1967 Judge Navanethem Pillay became the first woman to start a law practice in Natal Province, South Africa; later, she became the first black woman to serve in the High Court in her country. She defended many opponents of apartheid. She was then elected by the UN to be a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, where she served for eight years, including four years as president. From 2004 to 2008 she was a judge at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. As of 2008, Navanethem Pillay is the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. She has a personal “SmartKids story”, as was shown in an interview in the Dutch newspaper “De Volkskrant”, December 2003: “Her dad was far from rich. He was a bus driver. They lived in Clairwood, a slum without pavement or sewerage. Neighbors collected money in their neighborhood to send bright Navi to university.”

Annemarie Jorritsma
Mrs. Annemarie Jorritsma (born 1 June 1950) is since 2003 mayor of the city of Almere, which is the fastest growing city in the Netherlands. Before becoming mayor she was the first female deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and the Minister of Economic Affairs for the Dutch Liberal party VVD. She has many additional functions, such as president of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, board member of Introdans and corps administrator of the regional police force of Flevoland. Annemarie Jorritsma is married and is mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Jorritsma succeeds Mr. Hans Dijkstal, who sadly passed away May 2010.
Fieke van der Lecq
Prof. dr. Fieke van der Lecq (1966) graduated cum laude as economist and took her doctoral degree in economics at Groningen University. She held positions in research, editing/publishing, policy making and market supervision, and returned part time to academia. Since 2008 Fieke holds the Cordares chair Pension Markets at the Erasmus School of Economics (Erasmus University Rotterdam). Besides, she is supervisory board member of profit and nonprofit organisations, as well as self employed advisor / consultant in the pensions sector. Fieke joined the board of recommendation of Smartkids after having served as chairman of Mensa The Netherlands in 2004-2005.
